Day 1 Everett to Stevens Pass

We left Everett in the early morning mist. The time difference worked in our favor and it was good to get started.

The pace was moderate per Lon Haldeman's advice for the first few days. Lots of fit people with a bunch of miles in their legs.

Managed to get a few pictures of Dave along the route as we ascended to Stevens Pass. Took the shot of him entering the tunnel as I was riding, so it's a little blurry. I'm still not sure what he's doing on the wooden bridge we had to walk across on the Old Cascades Highway, which we both agreed was the prettiest road we'd ever rode on. The pavement was perfect and the scenery was spectacular.

I got a picture with the Iron Goat Trail sign for the boys from Operation Scott Tarry Drop. Iron Goat.

The climb to the pass involved 4,000 feet of climbing over about 17 miles.
