Day 1 Stevens Pass to Wenatchee

We crossed the pass 71 miles into the ride and began our descent (and a bit more climbing) down to Wenatchee. The best part of the descent, which was hastened by a nice tailwind, was riding alongside the Wenatchee River, which alternated between turquoise green pools and frothy white rapids.

Unfortunately, there were a couple of crashes outside Leavenworth, including Rick, a guy Dave and I rode with most of the day. He cracked his helmet, shredded some nice Pearl Izumi bibs and left a bit of skin on the road. Lucky for him, Dave was there to give medical advice at the scene and again when we got to the hotel. We ran into Rick on our way to dinner and invited him to join us. Turns our Rick's been an emergency room doc for thirty years!

Was a good day. 128 miles. 16.1 mph average. Off to Coulee Dam tomorrow.
