Prologue in Everett, WA

After retrieving Dave from the Seattle-Tacoma Airport we headed to Everett and met Scott's brother and sister-in-law for brunch at a Kate's Greek Diner for an awesome brunch. Scott's folks then dropped us off at the Best Western Cascadia where we picked up our bikes and checked in for the ride. Bikes were assembled without incident and then we headed off for a 14 mile shake-down cruise to the Mukilteo Ferry Dock on the Puget Sound.

We got the riders' briefing this afternoon and then met for dinner. Dave's been sporting his salmon colored PacTour camp shirt, which he got for registering early. Scott does not have such a nice shirt, but isn't one bit envious. Expect Dave to post pictures of said shirt later.

Dinner was a buffet and we sat with riders from Germany, Australia, Michigan, and Indiana. Dave brought a bottle of wine he had received as a gift from friends in Portland and shared that with the group after finding a wine opener that actually worked. The man from Australia (on the right in the picture) was recognized for having ridden over 20,000 miles with PacTour! Which is 6 transcontinentals and only 19,986 miles more than Dave and Scott have... but we weren't recognized for anything.
